Etching in brown ink on cream wove. Dimensions: Image 24.5cm X 17.5cm (approx.), Sheet: 32cm X 23.5cm (approx.). Signed in the plate, bottom right hand corner of image. Published by J.S. Virtue & Co. Title, medium, artist and publisher names printed in lower margin. In new conservation standard off white mount.
Condition is very good with image surface excellent. Time toning to margins, mainly extreme edge, with one very small darker but unobtrusive time tone at bottom left hand corner next to image but not effecting it. Overall very good.

David Law, Scottish, 1831-1901. Born Edinburgh. A watercolour painter and etcher who specialised in landscapes and who was an active exhibitor, showing his work in major institutional art galleries in Britain and also at principal art societies. He was elected to membership of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers in 1881 and the Society of British Artists in 1884 becoming its Treasurer in 1887 during the Presidency of Whistler.
