Edouard Chimot (1880-1959)
Signed etching and aquatint, 1st state. Annotated beneath in pencil ‘Hommage sympathique à M.Delas’. (1921).
The same etching was also published in ‘Les Soirs d’Opium’ by Maurice Magre and illustrated by Chimot, and was used for the section: ‘Rosaire de Souvenirs’. The publication was limited to 500 copies of which there were 40 special copies which contained the etchings in 4 states. The etching that we have is of the earliest state, but is aside from the publication and bears the annotation written by Chimot along with his signature.
